On Thursday, January 29, 2026, the mission to prefigur the Museum & memorial of terrorism accompanied members of the Scientific and Cultural Board and the Advisory Committee, as well as representatives from the founding members ministries, on a visit to the site of the future Museum & Memorial of Terrorism, which will open in 2030 in an unoccupied part of a former military barracks (Caserne Lourcine) in the south east of Paris. This visit follows the announcement by President Macron in November 2025, which formalised the choice of this emblematic location for the future museum.
During this meeting, participants were able to discover and explore the place in its current configuration, ahead of the upcoming launch of the architectural and scenographic competition. This immersion in the field allowed them to better understand the constraints and potential of the site, thus promoting rich and constructive exchanges on the spatial lay-out of the project.
These discussions focused in particular on the allocation of space for permanent and temporary exhibitions, the creation of a coffee/book-shop, rooms dedicated to school groups and victims' associations, and the location - as yet undecided - of the memorial.
This meeting marks a decisive stage in the project and demonstrates the collective mobilisation around this future memorial, which completion is a major challenge for remembrance and transmission.
