Resisting terrorism goes beyond the issue of security. It is a social, cultural and moral challenge to which we must respond both individually and collectively.
It involves society in all its diversity, particularly those who find themselves on the front line: the Paris fire brigade mobilised on 13 November 2015; the police forces leading the assault against terrorist groups; journalists – prime targets – tasked with reporting from the very outset; cabin crew facing a hijacking; and teachers targeted because they embody republican values.
The objects on display here bear witness to this mobilisation. Whilst no one is immune to the effects of terrorism, resistance – including through knowledge and culture – is crucial: this is the very purpose of the future Museum and Memorial of Terrorism.
