Event: Jihadist attack involving a truck ramming pedestrians on the Promenade des Anglais during the Bastille Day celebrations

Location: Nice, France

This textile work was created by two artists who were present at the time of the Nice attack. It depicts a landscape of Nice woven in bright colours, inspired by arpilleras – Chilean embroideries expressing resistance to the Pinochet dictatorship – in reference to the home country of one of the artists.

Two events intertwine through the journey of an artist who was a victim, simultaneously evoking the terror of the Chilean military dictatorship and contemporary jihadist terrorism.
