Les rendez-vous de l'histoire de Blois

On the occasion of the 29th edition of the Rendez-vous de l'histoire, October 7–11, 2026, in Blois, the Museum and Memorial of Terrorism invites you to two events: one on the portrayal of terrorist violence, using the example of September 11, and another on the teaching of terrorism, drawing on trials held during the 2020s.

9/11: Images, Fiction, and Museums

Friday, October 9, 2026, from 5:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. - Blois • Les Lobis, Room 2.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, the Museum and Memorial of Terrorism, in partnership with the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, is hosting a discussion on the global legacy of this event and, more broadly, on the representation of terrorist violence. The focus is on the cultural dimension of remembrance, particularly the design of memorials and museums, and the production of films and TV series. These works have been highly successful with a broad audience and are an essential element in building a lasting memory of the event.

A Courtroom in the Classroom? Teaching About Terrorism Through Trials from the 2020s

Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. - Blois • Judicial Court, Criminal Courtroom.

How can we teach about terrorism based on the trials held during the 2020s? This conference aims to analyze the unique nature of these trials, decipher society’s reactions to this anti-terrorism justice system, understand the new role granted to victims within the judicial system, and examine the forms their immediate memories take (drawings, audiovisual recordings, etc.). It will draw on the perspectives of researchers in the humanities and social sciences, as well as those of educators who have led projects both outside the classroom and in the courtroom.

Moderator: Lancelot Arzel, educational director of the Museum and Memorial of Terrorism.
